At 11:20 PM 5/23/03 +0200, Marcel grafo:
[English seqe Glosa]
[Last Saturday I made a short announcement about our new Glosalist at Yahoo in the auxlang mailing list. Auxlang runs under listserv, but is also available at Yahoo, so to say a neighbour-list of Glosalist. Now I am glad, that this week we got new members: . And I am happy, that Jay is here again, hi! And before a few others joined. If you are auxlangers or wherever you come from: welcome to all of you. Thanks for your interest in Glosa and greetings - ]
Marcel
So, ~Pa di-six, …
+ -> ~ mi pa nunci na neo Glosalist to Yahoo in un Auxlang e-grama lista.~ [I did anno. our new Glosal. at Yahoo in the Auxlang mail list]
Plu pre-positi verbi de Glosa habe u logika de plu matematiko simboli, e meio plu qalita de moli lingua: a,ad [to,towards]; to,topo [at]; in [into]; intra [in,inside]. *.

With little time, I read the English version before I looked at the Glosa version.
- I prefer the use of ~di-six~ (for Saturday) not the two words ~di~ and
~six~.
Thus, ~Pa di-six, … ~ can be nothing other than a translation of “Last Saturday, … “. Because ‘pa-di’ is the day before now, ~Pa di six, … ~ without any joining-mark (hyphen) gives no clear meaning. -
~ … ad Yahoo in Auxlang e-grama lista.~ : I (did) read this group of two phrases twice, in both English and Glosa, before I got the correct meaning. First, I thought one comma, or two, were absent; subsequently, I got the realisation that the change of two small words would give clear syntax. ~ … mi pa nunci de na neo Glosalist ad Yahoo in Auxlang e-grama lista.~ - ? + -> ~ mi pa nunci na neo Glosalist to Yahoo in un Auxlang e-grama lista.~ [I did anno. our new Glosal. at Yahoo in the Auxlang mail list]
I have the feeling that Marcel translated from English to Glosa, not (in) the other direction. The preposition words of Glosa have the logic of mathematical symbols, and less (of) the qualities of soft language: a,ad [to,towards]; to,topo [at]; in [into]; intra [in,inside].
- I prefer the use of ~di-six~ (for Saturday) not the two words ~di~ and
~six~.
*. But that is enough comment about the sharp (finer) points of Glosa.
\(\)$ A big welcome to the new joiners: cp46tan, idojc, Alesandrulo (pracrito) e Rodrigo (philoglot), and (to) Jay, returned. I hope that people, who now discover Glosa, like the qualities of the language. The final word of each Glosa phrase is the main word of the phrase. In the words of linguists, this structure is called “head final.” Ron Clark said that Glosa is a ‘concept language.’ While many (people) object to this description, I have the feeling that this idea - of concept language - separates Glosa from the other interlanguages.
Many years before now, I imagined that the very intelligent people who created the Internet, would (in the future) complete the work - of giving global communication to mankind - by creating the language, which, like the electrons, had the ability of reaching everybody.
Glosa has the appearance of being this 'missing link' of communication.
It has more of the feeling of the pidgin language of the electronic era, and less of the feeling of horse and cart, or pen and paper, both of which apply to the interlanguages, (that are) derived from the traditional national languages.
Saluta,
Robin Gaskell
